Multisnake launched

After a few weeks of coding, Multisnake is up and running.  We’re still working on reducing network latency and adding gameplay elements, so expect the game to improve in the near future.  We would appreciate any feedback and suggestions.

This has a LOT of potential to it. Some suggestions:

Different areas (Depending on # of people maybe?)

    Obstacles

Scalable food replenishing (Sometimes with a lot of people its tricky to get any)

These features are actually already a part of the game, but the parameters need to be tuned. In particular, the board increases in size as more people join, and the amount of food is regulated by a controller which places food based on the current amount of food and the area of the board.

As we advertise the game and implement more features to keep people playing for longer periods and coming back, the scalability features should become more apparent.

    Thanks for your input!

Ah, I never knew that. I’ll be waiting for updates then!

And another idea, probably too difficult to implement/wouldn’t work, but perhaps there can be a sort of trap you can set? Something to work on other snakes, but not you. Or, something to give yourself an advantage, like adding on several segments to other snakes or losing some yourself.

Nice. I love Multisnake. I’d suggest making it impossible to kill another snake by crashing into their heads, because it’s really annoying when someone spawns right in front of you and you don’t have the chance to steer out of the way.

I’d also suggest more maps, the same standard map every time can be boring, perhaps a room system? Since it’s very hard playing when there are 5+ people playing anyway, it’d be a good idea to have seperate user-created rooms, with customizable stuff like maps, colours, etc. The maps could also stand to be a bit bigger.

Finally, a few power-ups would really clinch it, maybe invincibility or something.

Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to seeing Multisnake grow and grow. Very addicting.

  5. Hey Someguy798 and Paradox,

I’m the other developer (besides eugeneiiim), and we really appreciate your comments and suggestions. We are actually working on addressing some of the issues both of you have mentioned, but we want to make sure the new features are solid before releasing them.

    Thanks for your continual support!

Hm, the new chat feature looks good.

Now if only people would join it….

  7. Heh, sorry, I took it off for now since it didn’t look good (destroyed the symmetry of the page). When I find a suitable solution, I’ll add it back. Thanks for the comment though.

Like what paradox said about power ups, I think there should be some bad power ups, (A.K.A.Power downs) which makes it harder on you. An example of a power down would thick snake, which makes your snake TWICE as thick, which makes it easier to hit a wall.

I think it would be pretty cool if different players had different colors. Besides that, it’s AWESOME.
    It’s down now for some reason though ;_;
